I recently finished Animorphs Book 4: The Message (my write up coming soon) and in the back of this edition, there was an ad for a contest. Upon reading the details I was curious, of course, of WHO the winners are. Above you see that contestants needed to, in 20 words, describe why they would want to morph into the animal they picked.
Reading this is hilarious for so many reasons. MAILING IN? PHOTOS OF YOURSELF TO STRANGERS?
I do like the detail of what BOOKSTORE you bought your book from. Another nice detail that just wouldn’t exist today. Not because bookstores are irrelevant (I would be out of a job, if that were the case) but the terrain is different.
I tried using the WAY BACK MACHINE to pull up monstersites dot com but didn’t come up with anything worth screen grabbing - just an old HTML page with green and black color font.
So who were the winners? I got you.
Winner #1 was Alexandra S. who would make it into the first Megamorphs: The Andalite’s Gift. I will be covering Megamorphs after my years in the main series. Time matters not.
Eric A. would be featured in Animorphs Book 10: The Android
And Andre H. would be featured in Animorphs Book 12: The Reaction.
I think Andre’s is the best! Alexandra sounds like she about to go on a power trip - she probably did well in corporate America.
These kids would be in their 40s now and I’m curious where they ended up or if they are still alive.
If anyone knows - please have them reach out. Did they become the animal version of themselves?
Anyway, more Animorphs coming next week! Thanks for reading!
Alexandra is absolutely a director of HR who uses the same kind of "respect for people" language when she does layoffs.
(I'm going to feel like a real asshole when you manage to track her down and she works for a humanitarian non-profit or something)
