Hello all,
This week I sit down with Mitch to discuss one of those games that has never quite let go of my psyche. A game that is a sharp criticism of military shooters, war, and player’s expectations.
Spec Ops: The Line came out in 2012 and while greeted by acclaim from critics and reviewers, it sold poorly. But, anyone who has played it look back on it with their own PTSD of what this game did to them. It’s an incredible narrative and the game’s marketing was botched. The publisher (2K) leaned into the “modern military shooter” aspect and not what The Line was actually saying.
I also got a new mic this week so I don’t sound like I’m recording from inside a church.
I hope you enjoy and stay tuned for more episodes.
