I enjoyed this when it came out and I enjoyed the main character's redemption arch. This game was willing to push the envelope in narrative and graphic content, making it more than another GOW clone. Nice fighting system too, though not at the level of GOW. That being said, there's a level somewhere near the third act where you keep doing the same stuff over and over again. It felt like padding and really dragged the experience down. Dante's Inferno could have been a 7/10, but that section drags it down to 5/10.

Yeah, we talk about that part - it is so clear they wanted to add another hour on the game but either were out of time or didn't know what to creatively do. It brings the pacing to a halt but otherwise it's a fun little game that probably could've done without all the elaborate marketing

I can't really blame the marketing. I recall at the time that the EA marketing team didn't really know how to market this game, especially because hardly anyone even knew the elements of Dante's saga. They even handed out notes of Dante's Inferno to help journalists frame its context.

And EA swung for the fences with the concept and its gratuity. And it would have landed, but the game was underdone, probably because of the enormous pressure for it to succeed.

Still, I wouldn't mind playing it again. It was fun-enough to finish. That scythe was such a fun weapon.

Such a fun weapon!! I do wish they made the sequel - from the sounds of it, they wanted it to be more Uncharted.

I'd settle for a minor remaster that's released at a reasonable price.
