Welcome back!
12 years ago, Gears of War 3 arrived and concluded one of the best video game trilogies of all time. This week my buddy Mitch sits down with me to reflect on how well Gears 3 holds up after all this time. Just like we did with Gears of War 2, we discuss why this entry is still SO DAMN GOOD! I’m a little annoyed that the Lancer feels nerfed over the Gears 2 Lancer but I was only mad about it for the first Act.
This 3 month journey on this Substack has focused on the story telling and nostalgia for the games’ campaigns but Gears of War 3 also introduced multiplayer elements that were never seen again. 4 player co-op and the wide variety of customization to both human and horde characters have not been seen in Gears since.
Hang out with us while we warm up with what we have been playing/watching. I talk about my recent hyper-fixation on Doom 64 and Mitch confesses his love for Kaiju Christmas.
In a couple of weeks, Mitch will return to discuss the often forgotten Gears of War: Judgement.
